Pacific Palisades

Located right in the heart of winding canyons and scenic hills overlooking the sea, Pacific Palisades is a neighborhood in the Westside of the city of Los Angeles, between Malibu and Santa Monica.Home to about 27,000 residents, many consider Pacific Palisades an exclusive enclave, a secluded retreat within the big, busy city of Los Angeles.

Rev. Charles H. Scott founded Pacific Palisades in 1922, planning to turn it into a land inhabited by a community of religious and intellectual individuals. Believers selected prime areas to live in, where they resided in tents during much of the city’s construction period. These tents eventually turned into cabins and bungalows, which would have presented a stark contrast to the multimillion-dollar homes that populate the Palisades today.

Many Hollywood personalities reside at Pacific Palisades because of the privacy. Though considered a very affluent community, paparazzi, limousines, bodyguards, and other Hollywood staples are nowhere to be seen here.

The Getty Villa

One of the J. Paul Getty Museum’s two locations, The Getty Villa is a superb educational place for anyone interested in knowing more about the ancient Grecian, Roman and Etrurian arts and cultures. The Getty Villa houses a collection of over 44,000 antiquities from 6,500 B.C. to 400 A.D., including iconic sculptures such as the Victorious Youth and the Lansdowne Heracles.

The Riviera Country Club

A high-end country club and a championship golf course designed by famed architect George C. Thomas, Jr., The Riviera Country Club is considered as one of the top golf destinations in the region. It has hosted many historic tournaments, including the PGA Tour’s Northern Trust Open, one of golf’s greatest events. Apart from the PGA Tour, it has hosted the U.S. Open and the U.S. Senior Open as well.

Scheduled to host the U.S. Amateur in 2017, the Riviera is truly an iconic location for both the sports of golf and tennis, and remains one of the greatest landmarks at Pacific Palisades.
